CAPPADOCIA – Turkey

Cappadocia is one of Turkey’s most popular natural wonder. It looks like a different planet with its cone-shaped rock formations, suspended rocks, chimney-shaped soft volcanic rocks, Bronze Age homes carved into the walls by the troglodytes, and caves that later were used as refuges by early Christians. Rock-cut churches and underground tunnel complexes from the Byzantine and Islamic eras are scattered in this ancient district in east-central Anatolia.
